Energy Tips for Super Bowl Parties

Jan 29, 2021 | Air Conditioning

As the Big Game quickly approaches us, football fans everywhere are preparing for festivities and parties, at their home or somewhere with friends. Whether you are a big pro-football fan, or you like watching the Super Bowl for other reasons, Super Bowl Sunday gatherings are a major American tradition — almost a holiday in and of itself.

Over the years, those of us who’ve hosted parties for the big game day know how expensive this event can be. So, in order to help homeowners save money for their Super Bowl Sunday parties, we at Fairfield-Hamilton Heating & Cooling put together the following Energy Tips for Superbowl Parties:

Take the heat down a few degrees

When it comes to parties and gatherings during the wintertime, extra bodies under one roof equate to extra heat. Throw large amounts of cooking into the mix and it’s a recipe for a hot house. Because of all this added heat in the home, we encourage you to turn the down temperature a few degrees on the thermostat, taking it below the standard setting. As hot as things are known to get during a party, your guests are likely to appreciate you taking this into consideration — especially with all the movement and action common to hotly contested football games with so much on the line.

Nonetheless, if things become toasty despite this, you can always lower the thermostat again. If that doesn’t work or if it’s warmer weather outside to begin with, you can always crack open a window. Just remember opening doors and windows is a waste of energy and that’ll cost you in the end.

Turn lights off in unused rooms

At most Super Bowl gatherings, everyone usually ends up in one room surrounding our largest flat screen TV. Aside from perhaps the bathroom and maybe the kitchen, our guests don’t normally spend much time in any other areas. We suggest using this to your advantage by keeping lights turned off in those other unused rooms and areas.

Prepare food in advance

Anytime we cook for larger groups of people, like for a party, it can heat things up in a dwelling. Because of this, we advise homeowners to prepare food ahead of time as much as feasible to prevent too much cooking from happening when the house is full of people. Essentially, we are looking to provide warm food without roasting our guests. To make this easier, consider using warmers in an outbuilding or garage to keep food ready to go!

Keep Indoor Air Quality in Mind

With all this fun happening at one time under one roof on Super Bowl Sunday, it’s easy to put Indoor Air Quality on the back burner. Keep this in mind come Sunday. Indoor Air Quality is known to become compromised in the midst of parties and gatherings.

As such, if your home is prone to indoor air pollution or if you have any unpleasant fragrances lingering there before or after your party, call Fairfield-Hamilton Heating & Cooling today at 513-540-1716, or click here to schedule an appointment now!
